Fatima Shah
Hello, my name is Fatima
I am a counsellor based in the Rochdale area.
Membership: British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy.
Life can be challenging at times, especially when you are dealing with difficult life events. However, if you find yourself in a situation where you feel like you can no longer cope or you even just need a little help in handling a major life event or life in general, counselling is an effective and proven way to help.
Training and Qualifications:
I have attended various training courses at the (CLC) Creative Living Centre mental health services. Here, I have volunteered as a peer mentor and a Co tutor for the past 4 years. The aim is to help people recover from mental illnesses, and provide support which enables each person to be actively involved in improving their own well-being.
I also manage a seniors group at Mindology, where I offer support and counselling. I take part in providing a range of services including art activities, mindfulness, meditation and yoga sessions.
I also provide support that is aimed at improving the quality of life and well-being in a holistic way.
Counselling can offer a different perspective that can help you to verbalize your difficulties and can give you the opportunity to discuss and explore thoughts, feelings and behaviours and find ways to change and grow.
I will do my upmost best to offer you my genuine understanding, openness, and respect during our counselling relationship. I place great importance in ensuring all my clients are made to feel comfortable in my presence by providing a safe, secure and a non-judgmental environment.
I believe each person has their own unique perspective and to be able to work alongside and help my clients is personally very rewarding for me and gives me a great deal of fulfillment. I will listen and encourage you to identify ways to deal with the problem.
My aim is to empower and leave you with the tools you need, so you can improve the quality of your life and well-being.
I predominately draw upon Person Centered therapy, Behavioural therapy (CBT), and Psychoanalytic theory. My integrative style allows me to adapt in accordance with your needs, as I recognise the paradox of clients wanting some form of guidance and direction.
In addition, diverse life experiences and working within the field of mental health services inform my practice. I work with clients experienceing a wide range of emotional and Psychological distress including low mood, anxiety, confidence issue, phobias, self-harm, trauma, depression, sleep disturbance, bereavement, relationship problems, social anxiety, and work related issues.
I am able to offer you online and telephone counselling sessions which give you the ability to engage in therapy from the convenience and familiarity of your own space. I also offer face to face and walk and talk therapy for some clients as being outside and moving helps them to focus and regulate their concentration during a session.
Feel free to email or call to make an appointment.
