Dr Michelle Hacking

Clinical Psychologist

I am a Clinical Psychologist and have worked within the NHS for many years, supporting autistic people and those with Learning Disabilities. I graduated from the University of Liverpool with a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology in 2018.

My approach is neuroaffirmative and person-centred. I aim to work alongside adults, young people, and families around meeting their individual needs, and working collaboratively on what is important in their lives.

I specialise in autism and neurodivergence, and have worked with autistic children and young people, and those with Learning Disabilities since 2007. Part of my work is providing post-diagnostic support for adults, children and families after receiving a diagnosis.

I continue to work within the NHS, and am currently a Specialist Clinical Psychologist within a team supporting homeless adults.

Psychological assessments are helpful to build an understanding of your current difficulties which can be tailored based on your needs, or the needs of your child.

I can support you to create a psychological understanding that maps out your current experiences and the impact that they may be having on your day-to-day life. This can help you to understand your own health and well-being, and think about how to improve your quality of life, mood and motivation.

We all have periods in our life where stress and life experiences can become overwhelming. Therapy can help you to make sense of these experiences in a safe space, with an experienced clinician.

I use a range of psychological therapies that are tailored to fit your individual needs. One of the therapies I am trained to offer is Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR) for supporting people with traumatic or adverse experiences, including sensory overload.

Other services

I also offer teaching, training, clinical supervision and psychological consultations for organisations. Feel free to contact me for more information.

*Please note that I do not currently offer diagnostic assessments for autism or ADHD.
